The short version

Nothing is required. The first consultation is a conversation, not an audit. Plenty of people call with only a rough idea of what they owe, and that is completely fine. We will help you piece it together.

That said, the more of the picture we can see, the more precise your options will be by the end of one call. Here is what helps.

Helpful to have nearby

  • A rough list of who you owe. Credit cards, payday loans, personal loans, lines of credit, CRA amounts. Guesses are fine.
  • Approximate balances. Recent statements or your banking app help, but ballpark numbers work.
  • Any collection letters or legal notices. If an account has gone to collections or you have received court papers, mention it. It changes the urgency, and a proposal can stop these processes.
  • Your income picture. Roughly what comes in monthly, and whether it is steady, seasonal, or variable.
  • Your big monthly costs. Rent or mortgage, car, childcare. This is how we find a payment you can genuinely afford.
What we will never do: judge you, pressure you, or share your information. The consultation is free and confidential, and simply asking never affects your credit score.

Questions worth asking us

  1. How much could my debt realistically be reduced?
  2. What would my one monthly payment look like?
  3. What happens to the collection calls and any garnishment?
  4. What does this mean for my credit, honestly?
  5. What does the process cost, and who gets paid?

Write down anything else that is keeping you up at night. There are no silly questions in this conversation. Every question you ask is one less unknown to worry about.

What happens after the call

You will leave with a clear picture of your options and real numbers. If a Consumer Proposal makes sense, we explain the next steps and connect you with licensed, regulated providers. If it does not, we will say so. Either way, the decision stays yours, on your timeline.
